The Pelican Warranty

The Pelican Elite Coolers Limited Lifetime Warranty. To read the full description, click here.

"Pelican Products, Inc. (“Pelican”) guarantees its coolers for a lifetime against breakage or defects in workmanship. This warranty does not cover the wheels, rubber feet, drain plug/spigot, gasket, cooler accessories or color fading, which Pelican warrants against defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the date of purchase. Pelican™ coolers are not intended for the storage or transportation of hazardous substances."

The latches, gasket, drain plug, etc are not guaranteed for life. However, the actual cooler is. This limited lifetime warranty has been created to replace all the appendage parts mentioned above. They realized these parts cannot last a lifetime and that is why they make it really simple to request replacement parts by submitting an easy warranty claim

"All warranty claims of any nature are barred if the product has been altered, damaged or in any way physically changed, or subjected to abuse, misuse, negligence or accident."

Meaning, you may not install a drain plug, bottle opener, etc and then begin experiencing defects in the cooler and have Pelican repair or replace your cooler. Misusing your cooler by performing stress tests will also void the warranty. Throwing your cooler off of a cliff trying to aim it into the water but instead, it hits every rock below, will also void the warranty.

To be clear, if your cooler does, however, have a broken latch or handle, for example, replacement parts are available.

Replacement parts are issued by the warranty department. PLEASE fill out this form to ensure an organized and speedy resolution.

The warranty department will be able to assist you with:

  • Latches
  • Screws/other stainless steel hardware
  • Lid Gaskets
  • Drain plug assembly
  • Rubber feet
  • Handles
  • Tumbler lids
  • Tumbers

Chill First:

Bring the cooler indoors and add two bags of ice overnight for maximum ice retention. This will sufficiently cool the insulation and inside of the cooler, which will allow the thick polyurethane walls to store and assist with ice retention.

Pack Cold:

Cool the food and beverages that will go into the cooler. Warm or room temperature food and drinks reduces the life of your ice while warming up your cooler. Coolers are made to help keep food and drinks cool, not to cool them down. Unfortunately, if the cooler is not prechilled then the ice that is being added to the cooler will melt very quickly because it is trying cool down the entire cooler. On top of that, if the lid is being opened and closed and trapping hot air in throughout the day, then this will compromise its performance. Simply, thermodynamics will not be your friend in this case. (Dry ice may be used inside of a hard-sided Pelican Elite Cooler. More information here.)

2:1 Ice:

We recommend twice as much to goods as the optimum for longest ice retention. Fill the cooler with as much ice as possible. A full cooler keeps its cold temperature longer than a partly filled one.

Pelican Cooler Expected Ice Retention:

Using 2:1 ice ration & pre-chilling your cooler

Pelican Coolers expected ice retention

Pelican™ Ice Packs:

Use Pelican™ Ice packs between pre-chilled food and drinks in cooler for best results.

Replace ice pound for pound with Pelican™ Ice for a longer lasting, colder than ice cooler without the mess of ice.

For use with ice, use ½ Pelican™ Ice and ½ regular ice to extend the life of ice in a cooler by 50% or longer.

Cooler Lasagna:

Layer the bottom with ice

Chilly water bottles, cans, and glass bottled items

Layer of ice + Pelican™ Ice pack (if using)

Meats. Add frozen meat if meat is not going to be cooked that day.

Layer of ice + Pelican™ Ice pack (if using)

Fruit, vegetables, dairy + other perishable foods

Delicate items on top - use a dry rack basket for keeping, sandwiches, desserts, pre-cut fruit, or eggs from becoming squashed or soggy.

Last layer of ice filling the cooler to the top reducing the amount of airspace.

While Using the Cooler:

Store the cooler in the shade or the coolest possible place as possible to keep out of direct sunlight.

Open the cooler as little as possible.

Do not drain, hold your water.

-----------

Cleaning + Storing:

Clean the cooler, ice packs and dry rack baskets after every use.

Clean by washing with water and dish detergent; rinse and dry.

If lingering odors are an issue, a quick wipe with a vanilla extract-soaked paper towel can freshen things up.

Store cooler shut with latches latched.

If your cooler has a drain plug, make sure it's open to prevent moisture from accumulating during storage.

Return ice packs to freezer to recharge for your next outing.
